Toyota to invest 8 trillion yen to electrify its vehicles
Toyota Motor Corporation one of the leading automotive company has announced its plans to invest 8 trillion yen, 70 billion dollars to electrify its automobiles by 2030. It aims to increase its sales global sales of electric vehicles by 3.5 million units by the end of the decade.
The company CEO Akio Toyoda said that “I believe that achieving carbon neutrality means realizing a world in which all people living on this planet continue to live happily. For that challenge, we need to reduce CO2 emissions as much as possible, as soon as possible.”
Recently the Toyota had announced that it has planned to build a battery factory to support electric vehicles production in North Carolina. It plans for a $1.3 billion electric vehicle battery plant near Greensboro, North Carolina that will create around 1,750 job opportunities for the people.
The news comes when Toyota’s announced that it will invest around $13.6 billion in battery tech over the next decade, including a $9 billion investment in production to electrify its vehicle portfolio.
This year in October, Toyota has teased its first battery-electric vehicle in April and now it has unveiled the production version of its first purpose-designed EV, the bZ4X SUV. The bZ4X sport utility vehicle (SUV) is the first of the seven BEVs-bZ (beyond Zero) sub-brand in a series of EV only models from Toyota which is planned to launch globally to have the zero-emissions market. The first of seven fully electric vehicles will be debuting by 2025.
