The latest OTA update shows active regen on Ather 450X

Customers of Ather 450X Gen3 and Gen2 can now enjoy the feature

Ather Energy recently released a new over-the-air (OTA) update for 450X electric scooter owners. The update allows the model’s digital console to display energy recuperation through regeneration. Ather Energy announced social media platform X (previously known as Twitter). The feature is now available for both Ather 450X Gen3 and Gen2 customers.

The Ather 450X’s digital dashboard shows regeneration in action, whether you’re using the braking or active recovery functions. Essentially, regenerative braking allows the vehicle to convert energy lost during braking into energy for the battery, thereby extending the vehicle’s range. Thus, electric vehicles with regenerative braking will be able to achieve even better range in the city, due to the higher number of braking cycles that occur there.

The Ather 450X has two regeneration options. Active regeneration requires the driver to twist the throttle forward, which gently reduces the speed of the electric vehicle. Brake regeneration, on the other hand, works by applying the brakes, and then charging the battery. The 450X comes with a 3.7 kWh battery that promises a range of 150 km on a single charge. A recent update also sold a 2.9 kWh battery with a certified range of 111 km. Power comes from a 6.4 kW (8.5 hp) PMS electric motor with 26 Nm of torque.

Currently, the Ather 450X electric scooter is available in two variants – the Core and Pro. Both of these models come equipped with a 2.9 kWh battery pack and are priced from 1.38 lakh onwards (ex-showroom Bengaluru). The Pro variant, which offers additional features and upgrades, is priced at 1.53 lakh. It’s worth noting that, at this time, the company is not accepting bookings for the 3.7 kWh battery pack. Overall, the Ather 450X is a highly capable and efficient electric scooter that is sure to impress both casual riders and serious enthusiasts alike.
