India’s leading automaker Maruti Suzuki is all set to enter the electric vehicle space with the launch of its first-ever electric SUV — the e-Vitara. The company has officially confirmed that the vehicle will make its debut in India on September 3, 2025, marking a major milestone in the brand’s EV journey.
The e-Vitara, based on the eVX concept showcased at Auto Expo 2023, is built on an all-new electric skateboard platform jointly developed with Toyota. This platform promises improved efficiency, space, and driving dynamics. The e-Vitara will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat facility and exported globally.
The SUV features a modern and aerodynamic design with slim LED headlamps, a coupe-like silhouette, and stylish 18-inch alloy wheels. The rear sports connected LED tail lamps and a blacked-out bumper with NEXA badging.
Inside, the cabin will offer a dual-screen layout with a 10.1-inch infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Highlights include ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, ambient lighting, keyless entry, and a premium two-tone interior theme.
Maruti Suzuki will offer the e-Vitara in two battery options:
Charging options include DC fast charging (10–80% in ~45 minutes) and AC wall box (full charge in ~4.5 to 9 hours).
The e-Vitara is expected to be packed with modern safety features, including:
- 7 airbags
- 360-degree camera
- Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- ISOFIX child seat anchors
💰 Expected Price & Competition
The e-Vitara is expected to be priced between ₹17 lakh and ₹26 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it directly against rivals like the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and MG ZS EV.
⚠️ Limited Availability Initially
Due to global supply chain issues and rare earth material shortages, Maruti Suzuki has cut early production estimates. Only around 8,200 units are expected between April and September, so availability might be limited in the first few months post-launch.
