India’s electric two-wheeler industry recorded impressive growth in June 2025, with total sales reaching 1,05,283 units, marking a 31.59% year-on-year (YoY) increase compared to 80,006 units in June 2024 (excluding Telangana). This performance underlines the increasing adoption of electric mobility among Indian consumers and signals strong momentum in the sector, even amid rising competition and evolving market dynamics.
Top Gainers: TVS, Bajaj & Ather Power Ahead
1. TVS Motor Company
TVS emerged as the top-selling OEM in June 2025, with 25,274 electric scooters sold, growing 80.13% YoY from 14,031 units in June 2024. Its market share jumped to 24.01%, up from 17.54% last year—an increase of 6.47 percentage points. The strong performance is likely driven by its iQube range and enhanced distribution across tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
Bajaj witnessed a phenomenal rise of 154.16%, selling 23,004 EVs in June 2025 as compared to 9,051 units last year. Its market share more than doubled from 11.31% to 21.85%, gaining 10.54% share—the highest gain among all OEMs. This surge is attributed to the success of the Chetak electric scooter, backed by nationwide availability and attractive financing schemes.
Bengaluru-based Ather Energy also had a stellar month, recording 14,512 units, up 133.46% from 6,216 units in June 2024. With a market share of 13.78%, Ather made significant strides from its previous 7.77%, gaining 6.01% share. The rise can be credited to the launch of affordable variants, wider dealership networks, and a push in Tier-1 and metro markets.
Ola Electric Sees Major Decline
In a surprising turn, Ola Electric, the former market leader, reported a steep 45.23% YoY drop in sales—from 36,859 units in June 2024 to 20,189 units in June 2025. Its market share plummeted from 46.07% to 19.18%, losing a staggering 26.89 percentage points.
The drop indicates growing competition from traditional OEMs like TVS and Bajaj, alongside customer service challenges, quality concerns, and a reduced pace in Ola’s hyper-aggressive expansion. Ola still remains in the top three but now trails behind both TVS and Bajaj in volumes.
Hero Electric, Greaves, and New Players Gain Momentum
Hero Electric
Hero posted 7,665 units, a 148.78% growth over June 2024’s 3,081 units. It holds a 7.28% market share, up by 3.43%, reflecting the brand’s continued relevance in the affordable EV segment, especially in rural and semi-urban markets.
Greaves Electric Mobility
Greaves (Ampere) clocked 4,199 units, up 54.60% YoY. With a 3.99% market share, its presence remained stable, supported by growing demand in the mid-range EV segment.
Startups Shine: River, PURE, BGauss Make a Mark
New entrant River saw spectacular growth, increasing sales from 200 units to 1,246 units, marking a 523% YoY growth. With a 1.18% market share, River is proving its early potential in the premium performance EV space.
Hyderabad-based PURE EV delivered 1,429 units, up 322% from 339 units last year. Its market share grew to 1.36%, showcasing a strong resurgence in demand for budget-friendly EVs.
BGauss also posted impressive growth, with 1,952 units sold, rising 83.80% YoY, and holding 1.85% market share.
Others and Revolt Show Modest Results
The “Others” category, which includes lesser-known or regional players, witnessed a decline of 12.85%, dropping from 5,791 to 5,047 units, and lost 2.44% in market share.

Conclusion: Market is Expanding, Competition is Heating Up
The June 2025 electric two-wheeler sales show that the Indian EV market is undergoing a major reshuffle. While Ola Electric’s dominance is fading, legacy OEMs like TVS and Bajaj are stepping up, leveraging their wide networks and trust. Ather, Hero, and new players like River are capitalizing on focused strategies, innovation, and better service experiences.
With over 1 lakh EVs sold in a single month, this is a new benchmark for India’s transition to electric mobility. The competition is expected to intensify in the second half of 2025, with new launches and policy pushes under FAME 3 on the horizon.
