As per the agreement, both CESL and NREDCAP will work for the demand, deploy electric vehicles and will also establish charging infrastructure. The CESL will plan a suitable payment security mechanism which will make by NREDCAP.
Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy said their vision is to procure 25,000 two-wheeler electric vehicles, to make the state go electric. They have been effectively providing affordable and clean power and a fillip to e-mobility will make a further push towards clean energy adoption.
Electric two-wheelers for the government employees will encourage the energy sector and will also have financial savings and we hope more and more people will also make a shift to EVs.
Srikant Nagulapalli, chairman, NREDCAP, said, “Providing 25,000 two-wheeler electric vehicles to government employees will be a game-changer for E-mobility in the state. Apart from mitigating climate change, electric mobility is going to be a key economic growth driver and we are focused on building the e-mobility ecosystem in the state.
He said they will encourage all the government employees, including cooperative societies, public sector undertakings, village, ward secretariat staff and others to opt for EVs as a bigger fleet of EVs in the government will encourage the masses in huge numbers.
According to Mahua Acharya, MD & CEO, CESL, “We are delighted to partner with NREDCAP and look forward to achieving scale, consolidation and standardisation across the ecosystem.”
The initiative taken by the Andhra Pradesh government to promote and encourage the green mobility state will set an example for the other states as well. The government employees volunteering the initiative will get the electric two-wheelers on a monthly lease based inclusive of comprehensive insurance that will be deducted as EMI from the employee’s account. They will get a standard warranty of 3 years against any manufacturing defect and they will also get a warranty on its battery for 3 years or 60,000 km whichever is earlier.
