India’s first autonomous buggy is launched by Maini Group, one of India’s pioneer electric mobility company. The autonomous buggy has been formed, designed and developed in India and is made for domestic and international markets.

The autonomous buggy has been launched by Industries and IT Minister KT Rama Rao at the Wings India 2020 event, Hyderabad, Telangana. The autonomous buggy can sense its surroundings and drives with little or no human involvement.

It has some amazing features such as Lane detection, land discipline, pedestrians, obstacle avoidance, emergency stop, app-based ride-hailing.

It is best suitable to be used in large places like airports, terminal buildings, IT Parks and public gardens. At current, these campuses use a large number of regular buggy’s which runs up to 12 hours per day.

“We believe that electric mobility and autonomous solutions are the keys to the future. We are looking forward to sectors like the airports, IT, and other large campuses to take the first step and be the early adopters to use this new technology,” said Sandeep Kumar Maini, Chairman, Maini Group.

Virya mobility 5.0

Last year in November 2019 the Virya mobility 5.0 has been recognised as one of the top 10 EV Startups in India. The Virya Mobility 5.0 (Virya) is a wholly-owned entity by Maini brothers who are main promoters of Maini Group and the founders of ‘Reva Electric Car’ company (now Mahindra Reva). It focuses on investing and developing electric vehicle technologies, and charging infrastructure solutions and services eco-system.

Sandeep Maini, the company’s Chairman said that the “EV revolution is here to stay! At Virya, we believe our future is collaborative and if EV firms across the country can synergise, India can lead the world in the EV revolution.” The Virya Mobility is working towards developing powertrains to match the performance of ICE vehicles.
